backstreet's back!

Backstreet Boys - they came, they saw, they had a concert. And I went.

Their concert was on 27/2/2008 and it seemed like the perfect day to hold a concert on the surf beach. After all, Malaysia was well known for its hopelessly sunny weather despite years and years of praying for a snowstorm.

Ah yes... All seemed well. I went to the Sunway Lagoon surf beach with David and Naima at around 4pm after buying some snacks (the concert was supposed to start at 8pm). So while queuing up, David and Naima decided to use me as a human-stand for the time being while they went to get free posters and all.

A very happy human-stand

Yeppp, I was looking every inch the glamour queen that I was with posters, a big-ass water bottle, a can of Jackers chips, McDonald's burger and fries, and a whole plastic-bagful of snacks. Damn, I was so hot! Hahaha! Little did I know that in a short space of time, I was about to get even hotter and oh so sexy. You see, while queuing up, all of a sudden, there was a thunderstorm.

A thunderstorm! WHAT THE FCUK?!

Needless to say, we were all soaked to the bone. And even after David returned with an umbrella, he was drenched as well - which totally defeated the point of having an umbrella in the first place. At least he looked cool being wet while holding an umbrella for shelter.

We almost drowned queuing up

How did I become sexier, u may ask? Well, if you looked closely at the picture above, you would notice that my T-shirt was made of very thin material which became practically non-existent when wet. Yeah, all eyes were on me then.

*coughthosebloodypervscough!*

I'm never wearing that T-shirt to any concert ever again.

Thank goodness the storm stopped after quite some time. But it was already past 7pm and the crowd was getting impatient. To begin with, we were pissed that the stoooooopid organisers did not let us in during the thunderstorm. Then, they allowed latecomers who were Sahara-desert dry to cut the queue and enter the concert premises.

So, there were a lot of scoldings and obscenities were flying everywhere. And what was funny was, in the middle of all this, the crowd suddenly stopped and went "Oooohhhhh...!!! Hahahahaha! Woohoo!" Apparently, there's this guy who was walking half-naked in his hotel room with the curtains drawn wide open (we were queuing up right next to the hotel rooms, by the way). When he disappeared from view, the shoutings continued.

Finally after what seemed like 2 years, we were let into the surf beach. Oh, Oh! Before that, there was a commotion because Alvey, a Channel [V] veejay was there to interview the crowd. Hmmm, to be honest, I didn't find him that good-looking. He looks better on tv.

Anyway, Naima and I managed to get good spots to stand during the concert and we were considerably near the the boys. Woah, they've aged a lot and grown... chubbier. With the exception of Nick Carter who lost weight.

Nevertheless, the concert was great! It was like a trip down memory lane! Its been 15 years since they debuted and we basically grew up listening to their songs. So it was pretty enjoyable to sing along to all their old songs and I have to say, the Boys were amazing performers. They really knew how to get the crowd going!

Here are some vids of the concert!

I Want It That Way

The Call + Intro to Backstreet's Back

Wildberry apologises for not recording the song, Backstreet's Back further because she was too busy jumping along with the crowd to the beat of the song. And hell yeah, it was fun.

Now, here are some pics from the concert! Be warned though, they're kinda blur.

Ah yeah, this concert was definitely nostalgic. Was it worth the thunderstorm which my friends and I had to brave? No, not really but I did not regret going to the concert!
