small pain in my chest

I'm too tired to write about my working experience, so I decided to read some poems instead and I found one which was so moving until I felt that I must post it up.

This poem is about soldiers in the battlefield. At times we may forget that soldiers are just people like everyone else. They laugh, they cry, they have sweethearts and mothers, birthdays and favorite cars - and they die.

Sometimes when we are celebrating victories we forget about those who made it possible, those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

Small Pain In My Chest
by Michael Mack

The soldier boy was sitting calmly underneath that tree.
As I approached it, I could see him beckoning to me.
The battle had been long and hard and lasted through the night
And scores of figures on the ground lay still by morning's light.

"I wonder if you'd help me, sir", he smiled as best he could.
"A sip of water on this morn would surely do me good.
We fought all day and fought all night with scarcely any rest -
A sip of water for I have a small pain in my chest."

As I looked at him, I could see the large stain on his shirt
All reddish-brown from his warm blood mixed in with Asian dirt.
"Not much", said he. "I count myself more lucky than the rest.
They're all gone while I just have a small pain in my chest."

"Must be fatigue", he weakly smiled. "I must be getting old.
I see the sun is shining bright and yet I'm feeling cold.
We climbed the hill, two hundred strong, but as we cleared the crest,
The night exploded and I felt this small pain in my chest."

"I looked around to get some aid - the only things I found
Were big, deep craters in the earth - bodies on the ground.
I kept on firing at them, sir. I tried to do my best,
But finally sat down with this small pain in my chest."

"I'm grateful, sir", he whispered, as I handed my canteen
And smiled a smile that was, I think, the brightest that I've seen.
"Seems silly that a man my size so full of vim and zest,
Could find himself defeated by a small pain in his chest."

"What would my wife be thinking of her man so strong and grown,
If she could see me sitting here, too weak to stand alone?
Could my mother have imagined, as she held me to her breast,
That I'd be sitting HERE one day with this pain in my chest?"

"Can it be getting dark so soon?" He winced up at the sun.
"It's growing dim and I thought that the day had just begun.
I think, before I travel on, I'll get a little rest ..........
And, quietly, the boy died from that small pain in his chest.

I don't recall what happened then. I think I must have cried;
I put my arms around him and I pulled him to my side
And, as I held him to me, I could feel our wounds were pressed
The large one in my heart against the small one in his chest.

food hunt

Woke up at around 7am; now that's something seeing that its ME we're talking about... Had to go with Naima to search for Shook Lin & Bok.

After reaching Raja Chulan, we realised that we had to walk quite a distance to the building. Oh gosh, the streets would surely be bustling with lots and lots of people on weekdays and I pray that we will make it on time for our first day of work!

Or else, seilorrrrhhhhhh...

Since both of us haven't had our breakfast yet, we went on a mini food hunt in Petaling Street and it turned out to be not-so-mini. Shit. There goes my diet... again. But, I still enjoyed it! Ehehehehe...

We spotted this porridge stall where a lot of people were eating and we decided to give it a try. Hey, if there's many people there it means that the porridge must be quite good. And it also doesn't hurt that the stall famous for its air mata kucing was nearby.

So down we sat and ordered.

All for only RM5!

Oh wow... it tasted not bad, plus its cheap! A bowl of porridge costs RM1.30 and the plate of add-ons costs RM1.20 per person. Of cos it depends on how much fu-chuk, chun-kuen etc. etc. that you put on the plate lar...

After a while, we realised that there were two porridge stalls in the same row which we were sitting and we actually went to the other stall as opposed to the one that we wanted to try out.

-_-" what the hell...

And I did wonder how come our bowl of poridge was considerably smaller. Oh well, I stick by what I said earlier. The porridge was not bad. At least its cheap!

Afterwards, we bought the air mata kucing and walked around Petaling Street.

Naima looking extremely pleased holding 2 cups of "air mata kucing"!

And we came to this stall where delicious i-don't-know-wht-its-called snacks were sold. Apparently, this stall was featured before in food mags and newspapers for selling the best i-don't-know-wht-its-called snacks.

For a small portion, it costs RM3. I caught the stall aunty in action. Fuiyoh! She was damn yao ying while cutting up the stuff.

Aunty needs a break! No kit kat, so have to settle for a plastic-bagged drink!

Not long afterwards, we passed by this stall selling soya milk and tau fu fa and a bunch of phographers - they were professionals, mind you - zoomed into their soya milk and clicked away at the stall. Now we all know what that means... Hehehehe...

So Naima and I returned there before we left and I bought a cup of soya milk for RM1 only whereas Naima got herself a bowl of tau fu fa for RM1 also. Cheap and tastes great!

"Mua" enjoying the soya milk~~

Naima slurping down on the "tau fu fa"!

That's all folks!

Tip: If you are on a tight budget and wanna go food hunting, go for places that sell cheap yet tasty food! Yumm!

empty

...

*sighs*

I've finished reading my precious... That was the best Harry Potter book ever. I couldn't even bear to put the book down for one second cos it was just so gripping.

The last few chapters were pretty nerve-wrecking yet horribly sad. But the final chapter was a nice finishing touch to Harry's life. And the flow of the story was excellent, not to mention that it started strong right from the beginning and the story moved at quite a fast pace.

*more sighs*

Now that I've finished the book, I feel empty... Yeah, I can always re-read the entire Harry Potter collection but knowing the end, at the moment, it leaves a pit in my stomache. Characters that I love have died and Rowling was kind enough to make their deaths dignified.

Re-reading the Harry Potter books will no longer be the same cos I know what will happen in the end...

Empty...

I feel so empty...

Malaysia's Next Top Male Model!

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh finally, finally, finally!

My precious Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows is now with me! It has been an agonizing wait to get my hands on one of these darlings.

I was almost running on my way to Borders this morning and Mak has so kindly joined me in the running so as to make me look like a lesser idiot. Heheheh...

My precious! *tears of joys*

You know, last Monday when I went to pre-order my precious in Borders, I spied on a stack of Harry Potter books behind the counter and was so tempted to steal one! Thank God I had enough sense to stop myself cos I won't be able to read Harry Potter in jail right... duh~

Neway, let's not continue further with my precious Harry Potter or else Mel would get mad and feel that his trip to Subang was not worth it. Know why? Cos today, Mel went shopping in Topman, Midvalley!

And to further strengthen the shift of focus from my precious to Mel, I have pics of his shopping experience!

*evil laughs*

Yessss... If you think that Mel looks hot, please thank Mak and I for being the professional stylists that we are. Credit should be given where it is due.

Wildberry's pick!

Mak's pick!

Mel looking every inch the gigo - er, hot male model that he is! *cough cough!*

Going for the "i-wanna-be-a-bug" look

Not to be outdone!

At long last, after a series of heart-to-hearts, intellectual discussions and even a phone call to mom, Mel has decided on these two tops!

Looking good!

Omigod! He should just quit law and join Manhunt!

Anyway, seeing that this is my blog; so naturally, I'm entitled to some "me" time and I believe that that time has come...

*ahem!*

I'm in a dilemma. Thing is, I've been going back to NafNaf a few times already cos I have my eyes set on this top:

Should I get it? Its RM50 and I have to say that its quite reasonable for a top. But the material is a bit thin and I'm wearing a size M which is a bit loose; couldn't find an S.

How how how? Should I? RM50 eh... its food for a week, man. But I like the style... Oh gosh! This is worse than rocket science!

Neway, after Mel's shopping spree, we went back to Mel's house and coincidentally, his dad returned from JB and bought the famous "bak chor mee" and invited me to taste it!

*Sluuuurrrppp!*

Dry "bak chor mee" with chilli and vinegar. Mel has the bigger bowl! T_T

"Bak chor mee" in soup!

Moving on, Mel and I went to One Utama where we had our dinner and watched The Simpsons movie.

Hahahahahahahahahah!

For those Simpsons lover and those who enjoy watching stupid and non-sensical movies, tis' the one to watch! Ahahaha! I really enjoyed Homer's idiocy! He seriously is the world's dumbest slob!

And if you do plan to go and watch it, pls remember to sit through the credits cos they still have a small part in the middle of it. Don't miss out!

Here's a trailer from the movie. Enjoy!

Hahahahahaha!

Oh yeah, Mel and I also tried the tong yuen in soya bean milk in this little soya bean stall in 1U (sorry, forgot the name of the stall, hehehehe). I love it! It tastes really good and its RM3.50 a bowl.

Ooh la la!

After the movie, it was supper time in Pan Bakery where we ordered hot chocolate and shared a cheese toast!

Mmm... hot chocolate~

Cheese toast!

Mel was about to rape the mug of hot chocolate!

Yeah... Today was a great chill day.

Ok, ok. I've neglected my precious long enough. Time to cuddle my precious! ^^

classic

I'm now taking a break after one whole day of anime watching, and I really mean one whole day!

Whoa! I seriously gotta give myself a good pat on the back for doing this for the past few days... Atta girl!

Neway, I checked my long neglected mails and had a good laugh - omg, the stupid jokes that I missed out! So, being the kind and generous soul that I am *ahem!* I'm gonna share with the whole wide world these jokes which tickled my funny bones!

This is a good one. Laugh at it and learn from it too!

A new vacuum cleaner salesman knocked on the door on the first house of the street. A tall lady answered the door. Before she could speak, the enthusiastic salesman barged into the living room and opened a big black plastic bag and poured all the cow droppings onto the carpet.

"Madam, if I could not clean this up with the use of this new powerful vacuum cleaner, I will EAT all this shit!" exclaimed the eager salesman.

"Do you need chilli sauce or ketchup with that?" asked the lady.

The bewildered salesman asked, "Why, madam?"
*
*
*
*
*
*
"There's no electricity in the house..." said the lady

MORAL: Gather all resources before working on any project...!!!

Ahahaha!

Exclaimer: The following joke may have been around for quite some time, but it never ceases to make my day!

"Why Singaporean Girls Can't Win Miss Universe Title"

One of the main reasons why in recent years the Singapore Government has always ensured that their Miss Universe representative were of tertiary level education or higher was because of the following incident which occurred not too many years ago.

It is the final round of the Miss Universe Pageant and the 3 finalists, Miss USA, Miss Malaysia and Miss Singapore are being asked 3 simple questions:

MC: The first question is name me an electrical appliance starting with "L":

Miss USA: Lamp
Miss Malaysia: Light bulb
Miss Singapore: LADIO
Judge: No, no, Radio does not start with the letter "L"

MC: I am going to give you 3 more chances; Now, name me an animal starting with the letter "L":

Miss USA: Lion
Miss Malaysia: Leopard
Miss Singapore: LABBIT
Judge: No, no, no!

MC: Your next chance. The name of a famous car that starts with "L":

Miss USA: Lexus
Miss Malaysia: Lamborghini
Miss Singapore: Lolls-Loyce
Judge: Oh my God!

MC: I am going to give you one last chance! Name me a fruit starting with the letter "L":

Miss USA: Lemon
Miss Malaysia: Lychee
Miss Singapore, with full of confidence, smiles and says: LIEWLIAN!!

This is not the end of the story, the Judge consulted the board of judges to determine if Miss Singapore should really be disqualified and they decided that since Miss Singapore was having so many problems with the letter "L", they decided to give her another chance.

Judge: OK, the final question is : Name me a human anatomy starting with the letter "L":

Miss USA: Lung (applause)
Miss Malaysia: Liver (even more applause)
Miss Singapore: LAN CIAU!!

The Judges terus pengsan!

Ahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!

Lovely~

*wipes tears away*

all for her

Before I begin, let me just say that this post is dedicated to Suki who insisted that her face be in my blog... -_-"

Neway, last Monday Suki came to Subang and we had tea together with Naima.

Poor Suki is bored to bits staying at home and is literally sick of playing games one whole day at home, namely, Burger Rush.

Well people, feast ur eyes on the pics! And don't forget to admire Suki's pic one second longer ok!

Hahahahaha!

Psst! Suki, don't take it to heart ya! ~Muaks~

Suki acting cute next to me

Gasp! The audacity! Suki camwhored in my apartment!

Suki impersonating a 'lalat' - cute!

freaky friday

Today was the last day in which we could spend with Cheryl. And much to her mother's delight, Mak took all of us to Ampang to have a taste of the famed Ampang yong-tau-foo.

We went to Restaurant Foong Foong and omigod! The yong-tau-foo was just undescribable! Words alone are not enough to do justice to the tastiness of the yong-tau-foo.

*slurp slurp!*

The place to be!

Yong-tau-foo!

Fried sui-gau

The sui-gau in soup

Yessssss... My fave was the fried sui-gau. The outer crust was so light and crunchy and when you bite into it, the pork inside tastes heavenly. Its just the right texture - not too tough and not too mushy. Dip the fried sui-gau in sweet sauce mixed with a lot of chilli sauce and you're good to go! Before you even finish the first one, you're already thinking of eating the second one! Yum!

After that, we went to Times Square where we fooled around on the display beds in Metrojaya. The poor attendants could only glare at us cos they had to re-arrange the beds after we're done with them. Ehehehe...

Yak yak yak...! Fast forward to the dinner at Manhattan Fish Market!

A picture speaks a thousand words so I'll let the pics speak for themselves. I'm just gonna add that we had a great dinner! :)

Fish markets nowadays have a menu - don't play play!

Mak was so hungry, he nearly ate the metal saucers!

The waiter who almost got sued for setting our dinner on fire!

Fish and chips

Seafood platter - the mouth watering garlic rice was hidden underneath the seafood!

Aha! You've been caught gobbling down carbs!

Its finger-lickin' good!

As dessert, we each chipped in to get a pint of Baskin Robbins ice cream in Chocolate Mousse and Espresso & Cream!

This is the most mature as Mel can be

Eeeeaaaaaahhhhhh! Attack!!!!!

Mak insisted on taking a pic of his spoon-with-a-hole

He made a big fuss over his spoon-with-a-hole when we didn't even say much over Mel's thoughtfulness on denying us a FREE pint of ice cream.

See, Mel actually found a hair in the ice cream but decided to just throw it away. There goes our FREE ice cream!

1 star for Baskin Robbins!

Ohohohohoho!

Now comes the best part. We went to Cheryl's house to chill as usual but somehow, the situation got a bit out of hand. Oh well, I suppose with Mel there, what can you expect?

We actually played make-up and err, Mak and Mel got high for some reason unknown to mankind...

Mel acts as if he's used to people putting on make-up for him. Hmm... Maybe he is!

Jacyn in action!

Voila! Drag queens!

Mel's pouty sexy lips are a showstopper! Amber Chia can quit modelling now

Even the girls weren't spared!

Gasp! I've never seen such hot babes!

There goes Mel with his pout again! *shakes head*

Freaks

Then, things got so wrong... -_-"

And they went "Ah, ah ah!"

Mak couldn't resist Mel's forceful charms!

... ><

Damn.

I'm beginning to think that this post is disgusting, thanks to the last few pics. Oh gawd.

This is disgusting!
