Stonehenge and Salisbury!

Stonehenge, as the entire universe knows is one of the world's wonders. The myth is that "the stones are believed to be petrified dancing giants who were caught in a sunbeam. The stone circle is said to resemble the giants holding hands, and in folklore is known as the Giants' Ring.

The stones were renown for their healing properties. If you sat under the stones and water was poured over them then your wounds would be healed.

It is supposedly impossible to count all the stones. The devil once bet that no one in the nearby village would be able to come up with the right answer. However, a monk replied 'more than could be told'. The devil angrily threw one of the stones at the monk and it bounced off the back of his foot - the outlying stone was then named the Heel Stone."

But yeah, I don't see what's so interesting about the Heel Stone. The story is plain lame.

Anyway, the point of this post is not simply the Stonehenge myth; its about me, me, me! I've been to Stonehenge! After hearing and seeing so much of it on tv, I can finally see the stones for myself!

The verdict: uhm... boring.

Took the bus to the outskirt of Salisbury. Got out of bus, it was fucking cold and it didn't help that the wind was super strong that day. Walked around in circles trying to get as near to the stones as I could - yeah, the public was not allowed to be within 100m (I think I'm wrong, but... aih, I dunno lah) of the stones. To be honest, I was expecting some pretty majestic and super huge rocks but Stonehenge was a disappointment. It wasn't that tiny to the point u had to use a telescope to spot it, but it certainly wasn't huge.

We're finally in Stonehenge, baby!

Appetizer of what's to come

Stonehenge!

Hmm... this is such a proper shot. Boring!

At a different angle

We looked 'chill' but it was freezing cold, thanks to the wind!

Nah, Wildberry and stones in the wild

Perfect

Yepp. Stones, stones, stones. Sigh. If the stones quacked, that would've been interesting. But noooo, it had to sit there all day and be stony. Yes, I don't make sense. Whatever. But luckily, after staring at stones, we went to Salisbury town and I would describe it as a very traditional and quaint English town. Here are some of the interesting things in Salisbury town! ^_^

Swan! There were loads of them! Such beautiful creatures!

Isn't it very English?

Cute! ^_^

Only in Salisbury

Interesting eh? But let me tell you what was the best; Salisbury Cathedral. Its said that Salisbury Cathedral (click, click) is one of UK's largest gothic cathedrals, dating back to I-don't-know-when. And the place was GORGEOUS! Omg, I fell in love with the place as soon as I saw it! The architecture was really so olden day gothic, its simply breathtaking. This is a place which, you'll have to visit for urself to be able to fully grasp the beauty of it.

Trying hard to fit the cathedral into my little camera lens

The statue insisted on holding my hand... I'm such a celeb.

Ah Ma the only one not staring up

Can u spot the humans?

Just because

Within the cathedral cloister

Would u believe me if I told u that this was a graveyard?

Inside the cathedral

Cantik

Stained glass!

Do not be deceived by its smooth surface; its a water fountain!

We walked on 'tombs' - not like we could help it; it was all over the ground! Creepy!

There were also many tombs like these; its not real tombs though. They're merely symbolic.

Such detail! Now we know the dog was a male.

Fooling around when we shouldn't. Kids, do not do this at home. Ur mother might whack u.

Confessing... Pfftt!

Me, me, me. So what? This is my blog.

We complement the statues. Ahem.

Mel should get an Oscar! LOL!

Lighting a candle - you must pay. No money, no candle. T_T

Posing inside the cathedral. Tsk, tsk. How indecent. :-P

After touring the cathedral, each person was given a free cuppa hot tea/coffee and one home-made butter cookie. The cookie was absolutely yummy! I want mooooorreeee...

I ruined my image taking this pic cos the aunty asked if I was alright... *sweats*

To end this post, we met this man from Peru and he was telling us about the Moai statues in Easter Island. If you dunno what that is...

Nah. I wikipedia-ed it for u

Hmmm. I wonder when will I be able to visit it? Sure, its another pile of rocks, but these are more interesting. At least they look like human heads.
